GFWC International President Jackie Pierce is pictured with TFWC President Patricia Siegfreid-Giles, TFWC Past State President Dorothy S. Kemp and GFWC South Central Region President Bobbi Caley. Dorothy was recognized because of her continuing work with both TFWC and GFWC. She will serve on the GFWC 2008-2010 Board of Directors as the South Central Region President. In addition the Texas State President received a Certificate of Appreciation honoring Clara Driscoll as the Empowered Woman from the past. Not only did she save the Alamo, she saved the Texas Federation of Women's Clubs by retiring the substantial loan that gave TFWC it's Headquarters Building in Austin. In promoting the GFWC theme of "GFWC... Empowering Women... One By One", each state was asked to select a club member that exemplifies the volunteering spirit of GFWC from the past and from the present. These women were recognized at a special ceremony at each of the GFWC Region conferences. TFWC is proud of Dorothy Kemp and her efforts to keep TFWC alive and well.
